In honor of Black History Month, please join me for a very special screening of the film The Rape of Recy Taylor, directed by Nancy Buirski. I've observed the parallels between Black History Month and Passover in Judaism. Passover is a time to remember the plight of a people subjugated and exploited, and the many individual acts of heroism that collectively brought about emancipation and eventually restoration of human dignity.
Black History Month is our Passover, and my intent for this screening is to be our Seder. The story of Recy Taylor and the ordeal she experienced is both timely and inspiring. Let us remember the struggle, remember the greatness, and most of all remmeber our amazing brothers and sisters like Recy Taylor, Rosa Parks, Fannie Lou Hamer, Coretta Scott King, and many others, and let them be our inspiration for the rest of the year.
The film will be followed by a Q&A session.
All guests MUST be registered to attend. Please only reserve a seat if you are able to attend.
